The manufacturing process of hot rolled steel begins by heating a metal billet or slab to temperatures above its recrystallization point, typically ranging between 1,100°C and 1,300°C (2,012°F and 2,372°F), depending on the specific steel type. This heated steel is then passed through a series of rolling mills, applying pressure to shape it and reduce its thickness. The hot rolling process is rapid, continuous and highly efficient.
One of the notable advantages of hot-rolled steel is its cost-effectiveness. Compared to cold-rolled steel or other steel manufacturing processes, hot-rolled steel generally offers a more economical solution. The hot rolling process is faster and requires less energy, making it well-suited for mass production.
